Stop the Grind to Host Webinar at Ocean Week 2024

We are excited to share that the Stop the Grind Coalition will be attending Ocean Week 2024, at the European Parliament in Brussels from September 30th through October 4th, as a proud signatory of the Blue Manifesto, a roadmap that outlines key actions needed to restore Europe’s seas.

Ocean Week represents a call to action for the European Union and member states to prioritize the ocean and its inhabitants in their climate and biodiversity strategies. It is a week packed with debates, exhibitions, and educational events aimed at raising awareness about the value of marine ecosystems and the critical role each of us plays in protecting them. We are eager to engage with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), fellow NGOs, and other ocean advocates to ensure whaling in the Faroes and beyond is a key part of the conversation. The new European parliamentary term offers a fresh opportunity to influence ocean policy and push for an end to whaling in Europe. We are excited to take the opportunity in Ocean Week to amplify our campaign, deepen partnerships, and build momentum to Stop the Grind and all other forms of whaling in Europe.

As part of our participation in Ocean Week, we are thrilled to be hosting a webinar session "Blue Manifesto in Action: Uniting to End Whaling in Europe", on the 4th of October 2024 from 09:00 to 10:00 CET. This event will bring together leading anti-whaling campaigners, legal experts, and researchers to explore how we can use the launch of the Blue Manifesto and the new parliamentary term  as a catalyst to end whaling in Europe. We will discuss the opportunities outlined in the Blue Manifesto to strengthen coordinated efforts to end whaling in Europe. We will also explore how to push the EU to develop effective anti-whaling policies and regulations and key lessons learned from anti-whaling campaigns in Europe. Ultimately considering how the EU can take a leadership role in addressing whaling. With global attention on the Faroe Islands’ whaling practices, the time to act is now. We invite all our followers to join us in this insightful and impactful discussion!
